MarshalSandler.com » Repositioning The Traditional Advertising & Marketing Agency In A Social Media Driven World

My social Network on Flickr, Facebook, Twitter...Image by luc legay via Flickr

Repositioning The Ad AgencyAudiences are skipping TV spots with their DVRs and  learning how to ignore ads on the web. Instead, they’re talking (bluntly) about products and brands on Twitter, chatting about them on Facebook and searching for the reviews and opinions of other customers on Google before they buy. Armed with free, easy-to-use tools that allow them to ask trusted friends what they think or give an unsolicited opinion to hundreds in an instant – it’s word of mouth on fire. The truth is, as people are increasingly empowered by social media, marketers are losing control.

Stats: The Internet in Charts

I love charts and graphs. So, here are a bunch of them that crossed my screen today. I found these all fascinating and I thought you would too.

HowTo: Implementor's guide to rssCloud

HowTo: Implementor's guide to rssCloud
Implementor's guide to rssCloud

This document shows how RSS 2.0's element can be used to connect a loosely-coupled Twitter-like network of people and 140-character status messages.

We walk through an implementation.

By design, each of the elements can and hopefully will be replaced by all variety of tools for different platforms, commercial and open source, for desktops, laptops, netbooks, cell phones, wrist watches, car computers, whatever.

Our focus has been on simplicity, being open (subject to replacement and user choice) and scaling.

I've provided an implementation of rssCloud, running on Amazon EC2, discussed, as an example, throughout this doc.
